Over consumption of citric acid from a natural source can delay the periods. But, when you use lemon for postponing your menstrual cycle, you may have to experience severe pain during the next periods. So, be mentally prepared for it.

2. Avoid Spicy Food

Spices like garlic, chilies, black pepper, etc. help in regulating the menstrual cycle. So, when you avoid certain spices, your periods can get delayed naturally.

4. Shepherd’s Purse Herb

All you need to do is mix three teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water, and consume it three times a day. Do it continuously for seven days to get the desired results. It can help in delaying the periods for 5 – 7 days.

6. Gram Lentils Soup

The fried gram lentil soup is one of the age old remedies for delaying the periods.

All you need to do is fry some gram lentils and then grind them to get a fine powder. Make gram lentil soup by adding warm water to the powdered lentils, and consume it in the morning on an empty stomach.

Start doing it 6 – 7 days before your periods’ expected date and do it for about one week to delay the onset of menstruation.

7. Gelatin

Gelatin is made from the collagen derived from the animal bones and it can be utilized in multiple ways.

Among the medicinal uses of gelatin is its use in postponing the periods. It is very effective in pushing away the periods’ date as it helps in removing the excess estrogen from the body.

The periods are not triggered due to the dearth of estrogen, and thus, gelatin can be used as the last minute resort when you want to push back your periods.

8. Cucumber

Cucumbers work opposite to spices. Spices increase the heat in the body and thus, trigger the periods. On the flip side, cucumbers are known for their cooling properties and this is why they are quite successful in delaying the periods of a few days.

Start consuming lot of cucumbers one week before your expected periods’ date and see how effective it is in delaying them.

9. Watermelon

Just like cucumber, watermelon also exhibits cooling properties and decrease the heat in the body which triggers the menstruation.

Eating a lot of watermelon one for 5 – 7 days before the expected periods’ date can help considerably.

10. High Intensity Exercise

Higher intensity exercise can help you significantly when you want to delay your periods. When we indulge in rigorous physical training, we often consume all our energy. As a result, the production of the estrogen in the body decreases and testosterone levels go up.

The lowered production of estrogen implies the dearth of the factors triggering the onset of periods and thus, they get delayed.
